Q: I did not receive my confirmation email, what should I do?

A: When you successfully enter the competition, you will receive an email from Let's Fish Lake Mac confirming your entry. You will receive a separate email from Stripe confirming your payment. If you do not receive your confirmation email, first look in your spam/junk folder of your email program. Sometimes the confirmation emails are incorrectly treated as spam. If it is not there, please contact us at info@letsfishlakemac.com.au, and we will follow up for you.

Q: When will I receive my angler number?

A: Your angler number will be emailed to you at the time of registration. It will be sent to the email address listed on your registration form. Please allow up to an hour for the email to arrive in your email inbox, and don’t forget check your Spam or Junk folder.

Q: When will I receive the codeword?

A: The codeword will be emailed to you after 8pm Friday, 17 November 2023, and will be displayed on the web site. The email may not arrive in your in-box until late in the evening. Please check the ‘Spam’ folder of your email program if you have not received the codeword email by 10pm on Friday night.

Q: I don’t live in the Lake Macquarie area. Can I still compete?

A: You sure can! You don’t need to live near Lake Macquarie, but you do need to fish it to be part of the competition.

Let’s Fish Lake Mac is a COVID Safe event and all participants are required to comply with the NSW Government COVID-19 rules in place at the time of the event. This includes restrictions in travelling to or from your local government area.

Q: What if my brag mat does not arrive in time?

A: If you do not receive your measuring mat prior to the event, you can use:

  • Another competitors 2023 mat that shows your Angler Number and the codeword. Please use a piece of white cardboard with black marker to clearly write your angler number and codeword.
  • Last years Let’s Fish Lake Mac mat, or a Pirtek Fishing Challenge mat, that shows your 2023 Angler Number and the 2023 codeword
  • A generic brag mat, like the ones BCF, Anaconda and tackle shops sell.

Write your 2023 angler number and the 2023 codeword on a piece of cardboard with thick black marker so both can be clearly seen.

Q: Where is the event held?

A: The competition is held on Lake Macquarie. Check out Where Can I Fish for details.

Q: Does somebody monitor the email contact point leading up to and on the weekend of the competition?

A: Yes, we respond to all emails ASAP. If you have a question, even on the weekend of the event you can email us through the Contact Us page.

Q: Can I upload my photo to Facebook page for judging?

A: No. The only way your photograph will be judged is for it to be uploaded to the Let's Fish Lake Mac web site. Any other email address or social media site you send your photo to will not allow your entry to be judged.

Q: When does my photo need to be uploaded by?

A: Photographs may be uploaded to the Let's Fish Lake Mac web site by competitors from 30 minutes after the official start time on Saturday, 18 November 2023 until 9pm on Sunday, 19 November 2023.

Q: I forgot the competition was strictly catch and release and my fish was dead on the brag mat when the photo was taken. Is this okay?

A: No. Any fish that is dead, mutilated or bleeding will be excluded from the competition.

Q: My daughter landed a really big fish, will it be eligible for junior or senior prizes?

A: Senior and junior judging is separate. You can only upload a photo of a fish that you caught.

Q: What if I land a fish when it’s dark?

A: There should be no photos taken in the dark.

Q: Is ocean rock fishing allowed?

A: No. Ocean rock fishing is not permitted in the Competition.

Q: Is there a minimum age limit?

A: No. All children are welcome to fish the Competition.

Q: What is happening at the festival at Rathmines?

A: The Let’s Fish Festival at Rathmines Theatre and Park will feature fishing stalls and demos, a casting competition, classic boats, kids activities, live entertainment, food trucks, a wine bar and more. It will take place from 10am – 5pm on Sunday 14 November. Admission is free for competition entrants and under 15s, with $10 tickets for adults. More information is available here.

Picking Up Your Brag Mat?

If you have chosen to pick up your measuring mat, pick up is available from:

There are two pickup times: Friday 4.30pm–6.30pm and Saturday 6.00am–7.00 am.

There are no other pickup times or locations.
